Lawrence A

Lawrence A. Diamant is a member of the Firm. He has extensive experience in the successful negotiation of debt restructuring/work-outs and has had lead responsibility for representing all types of significant constituencies in numerous chapter 11 reorganization cases. As a recognized leader of the Los Angeles bankruptcy bar, in which he excelled in various elective capacities, he has served as a bankruptcy trustee, expert witness and consultant. His experience as a chapter 11 reorganization trustee offers clients the invaluable added dimension of business experience in the complex reorganization process. Lawrence was born January 3, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey.

Significant Representations

  • Primary responsibility for the representation of the Waterfront Hilton Beach Resort in its successful chapter 11 case where he achieved the restructuring of more than $59 million of secured debt to a manageable $18 million debt instrument which has proven eminently manageable for the now successful hotel.
  • Lead counsel in the reorganization of Qintex Entertainment wherein over $60 million was generated for creditors through aggressive and innovative legal action including achievement of the successful $40 million sale of the Hal Roach film library.
  • Lead counsel to the unsecured creditors committee in the House of Fabrics chapter 11 case where he spearheaded efforts to revitalize and restructure the operations and debt of the struggling 600-store retail fabric chain. The reorganized company emerged from bankruptcy with an independent board of directors selected by the creditors and with creditor ownership of 93% of the stock of the company.
  • Representing the interests of secured lenders, he successfully defeated the Debtor's reorganization plan in the Helionetics chapter 11 case and thereafter achieved confirmation of an alternative plan acceptable to and supported by his constituents.
